The carbon bow is a string bow made of carbon fibres. It was developed in the late 1980s and patterned after earlier models made of other composite materials. Since they are often more affordable in comparison to classic bows crafted out of pernambuco or brazilwood, they have become a popular alternative. Furthermore, carbon bows are also recommended for ecological reasons, since pernambuco and brazilwood are endangered species.
