Particularities
Alex Loskutov was educated as a professional violinist, but spent much of his time as an apprentice with his local violin maker. From 2002 he studied violin making at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria di Milano in Italy with Luca Primon, Gabriele Negri, Marco Imer Piccinotti and Carlo Chiesa, and worked at the Cremona atelier of Mathijs A. Heyligers before he finally graduated as a master luthier. With seminars by renowned masters such as Guy Rabut, Hans Nebel and Samuel Zygmuntowicz he deepened his skills in special restoration and construction techniques.

Particularities
Jeffrey Albert Muller apprenticed with his father, Albert Muller, and with Paul Schuback in Portland (Oregon). In 1994 he worked in the famous Hans Weisshaar Shop in LA an specialized as a restorator, before he established his own atelier in 1997. He has earned a Certificate of Merit for Tone by the Violin Society of America.

Robert Eduard Cauer studied violin making at the Mittenwald school and worked for Rembert Wurlitzer in NYC under Simone Sacconi and for William Moennig in Philadelphia. In 1980 he founded his own atelier in LA.

J. Michael G. Fischer was born near Stuttgart, Germany, and studied violin making at the Violin Making School in Mittenwald under Roland Sandner. Subsequently he worked for Dietrich Kessler at Withers, London, and specialized in viola da gambas and baroque instruments. After employments with Charles Beare, London, and Hans Weisshaar, LA, he established his own atelier in 1984. Michael Fischer is member of the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers AFVBM, the Entente Internationale des Maitres Luthiers et Archetiers D’Art EILA and the German Verband Deutscher Geigenbauer und Bogenmacher e. Brianna Goldberg

Particularities
Brianna Goldberg is a freelance musician and works as a double bassist in the Santa Barbara and Monterey Symphonies, and performs with the New Mexico Philharmonic.
She studied bow making with master bow maker Lynn Hannings and master bow maker George Rubino at the Violin Craftsman Institute at the University of New Hampshire and at the Southern California Violin Makers Workshop. Today Brianna Goldberg offers double bass bow rehairing and repair services.

Particularities
Vitali Violins was founded by Vitali Rymsha in 1959, who imported violin parts from Europe to sell them to music schools all over the US. In 1982 the shop was taken over by Lauretta Craven in 1982; violin maker Francisco Chavez is in charge of any repair and rehairing services. Today Vitali Violins is a long-established partner for luthiers and an insider tip for violin making aficionados.

Particularities
Barry Hou made his first violin at the age of 17 and studied violin making and restoration with Richard Blois. He worked at the renowned violin shop of Thomas Metzler before he opened Marquis Violins in 1991.
In the workshop, he is being assisted by Jay Cai, who primarily concentrates on restorations.
Craig Scollard – Callier-Scollard Violins

The shop was founded in 1900 by violin and bow maker Frank Joseph Callier (1883–1971) in St. Louis. It moved to San Antonio (Texas) in 1916 and in 1928 to Hollywood. It was taken over by his son Paul Callier and sold to Craig Scollard in 1984.
Craig Scollard studied violin repair with Paul Callier and making with Rock Eggen in Salt Lake City. Today he specializes on repair and bow making.

Lisa Gass is a freelance bassist and studied violin making at the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City. Since 1984 she established and managed the bass department at the Thomas Metzler Violin Shop. In 1997 she opened her studio „Los Angeles Bass Works“ in Silverlake and moved in 2005 to its current location.

Joseph Liteh Liu studied violin making at the Chicago School of Violin Making with Rebecca Elliott, Fred Thompson and Tschu Ho Lee. Subsequently he worked for Margaret Shipman at the Hans Weisshaar Violin Shop.
Today he specializes on making instruments and bows. Liu is currently not taking instrument repair and resoration work, except for instruments he made and for bows.
Charles W. Liu

Charles W. Liu studied at the Beijing Technical School of Instrument Making and earned his degree of luthier from the Violin Making School of America in 1997. Subsequently he worked at Peter Paul Prier & Sons Violins.
In his LA and SLC ateliers there are three experienced violin makers on staff for repairs and restoration.
Hans Weisshaar

The Hans Weisshaar ateliers were founded by master violin maker Hans Weisshaar in 1947 in order to provide professional violin maker services to LA musicians. Weisshaar studied violin making at the German State School for Violin Making in Mittenwald and came to the US after several years of work in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany. He joined the workshops of William Lewis and Son in Chicago and Emil Hermann in New York, where he met Simone F. Sacconi.
His LA atelier became a fixed star in the world of stringed instruments and welcomed the most excellent musicians such as Pablo Casals, Jascha Heifetz, Yehudi Menuhin and Joseph Szigeti. His restorations of the “Red Diamond” Stradivari violin and of the same maker's “Bass of Spain” cello wrote violin making history. Hans Weisshaar was a co-founder of the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers.
In 2004, 13 years after the death of Hans Weisshaar, Georg Eittinger, Master Violin Maker, took over the Weisshaar workshop. Having studied violin making in Mittenwald himself – just as Hans Weisshaar – Ettinger is sharing the same roots of craftsmanship, adding his experience as a former employee of J&A Beare and his expertise in restoration and fine historical instruments, that is respected worldwide. In 2005 he opened the company's Berlin violin making and restoration workshop as a branch of the Hans Weisshaar atelier in LA.

Thomas Metzler, the founder of Metzler Violin Shop, studied violin making at the Bavarian State Trade School for Violin Making in Mittenwald, Germany, and apprenticed with Hans Weisshaar before opening an atelier with David Rivinus in Glendale.
Today Teru Yoshioka and Joseph Liu assist Thomas Metzler in the company's violin making workshop being true specialists for violin and bow repair and restoration.
Thomas Egan – Vita Dolce Violins

Thomas Egan studied violin making at the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City and soon discovered his fascination with bows. After graduating, he worked for renowned shops such as Hans Weisshaar, and established Dolce Vita Violins with his wife Trudy Egan in 1997. They cooperated until 2012, when Trudy Egan retired from violin making.

Nazareth Gevorkian lived and performed as a professional violinist in Yerevan, Armenia and continued his career after moving to the US in 1974. He learned violin making in the Hans Weisshaar atelier and established his own shop in LA (Van Nuys) in 2005.
